Arne was born on July 26th, 1916 in Notodden, Telemark.1 Arne's father was Oskar Nilsen and his mother was Thora Narvesen. His paternal grandparents were Karl Nilsen and Hilda Marie Hansdatter. He has a brother named Gunnar. He is the younger of the two children.-
