Astrid was born in 1891 in Kongsvinger, Hedmark.1 Astrid's father was Olaf (Ole) Hansen and her mother was Olivia Larsdatter. Her paternal grandparents were Hans Pedersen and Eli Svenningsdatter; her maternal grandparents were Lars Olsen and Anne Arnesdatter. She had three brothers and three sisters, named Olaf L. Hamfjord, Rolf, Erling, Erika Otilie, Ågot and Ragnhild. She was the third youngest of the seven children.General Notes
