Osmund was born on October 14th, 1923.1 Osmund's father was Sven Jonasson Skjørestad and his mother was Berta Sofie Osmundsdatter Lund. His maternal grandparents were Osmund Osmundson Lund and Elen Jakobsdatter Talgje. He had four brothers and five sisters, named Johan, Egil Kristian, Marton, Jakob Osmund, Ellen Kristine, Inger, Anna Kristine, Svenny Bergliot and Else.
